Hello, IoT enthusiasts and specialists from Gabrovo and the region! We want to thank everyone who attended our informative event, Connected Gabrovo: IoT Explored, organized by IoT4Green in collaboration with Helium. It was a fantastic gathering focused on all things IoT, from automation and sensors to Arduino, Raspberry Pi, LoRaWAN networks (especially Helium), and everything that excites you in the world of the Internet of Things.
We were delighted to provide a platform where attendees could explore and play with a wide range of devices, including gateways and sensors. Our showcase featured products from renowned brands such as Milesight, RAKwireless, MultiTech, Mikrotik, Browan, Elsys, and many others. We encouraged participants to bring their own devices, fostering an interactive and collaborative environment.
We designed Connected Gabrovo: IoT Explored as an informal event to serve as a forum for like-minded individuals to discuss, learn from each other, share projects, address challenges, and offer valuable advice. It was a pleasure to witness the vibrant exchange of ideas among the diverse audience, which included both newcomers to the presented technologies and experienced professionals who already incorporated them into their work.
We were especially thrilled to welcome attendees from two universities, Technical University Gabrovo and the University of Veliko Turnovo, who enthusiastically expressed interest in incorporating IoT topics into their curricula (they are already offering a few courses). This emphasizes the growing importance and relevance of IoT education in Bulgaria, and we take delight in contributing to its advancement.
Throughout the event, we observed intriguing discussions on various applications of IoT technology. Weather stations and bee hive monitoring systems were among the topics that sparked great interest and generated insightful conversations. Some of the attendees had already developed products/services for the aforementioned applications. These discussions highlight the immense potential of IoT in addressing real-world challenges and driving innovation across different sectors.
A highlight of the event was the presentation that provided a technical overview of the technologies behind IoT. It delved deeper into the LoRaWAN protocol stack and its specifics, such as network infrastructure, comparisons with other technologies, and exciting developments on the horizon. The presentation captivated the audience and fostered a deeper understanding of the technology’s capabilities and possibilities. Even more importantly it led to a lot of discussion about what the participants were working on, what problems they faced, and how IoT has helped them solve problems in the field of automation and monitoring.
We were pleasantly surprised by the turnout, with a total of 13 attendees joining us. Our initial expectations were modest, but it was heartening to see such a strong interest in the event. While initially sensing a bit of distance, we thrilledly witnessed the conversation gradually picking up momentum. Engaging discussions unfolded, including debates on the effectiveness of the NB-IoT services provided by Bulgarian telecoms and the adaptability of IoT technologies as a whole. It was rewarding to see attendees actively participating and sharing their valuable insights.
We want to express our gratitude to Helium for their sponsorship, which made this event possible. Their support and collaboration have been instrumental in creating an enriching experience for all participants.
